Christianity: Paul of Tarsus
Paul was against religion and Jesus. Jesus wasn’t caught and executed until the Jews felt threatened by him when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey getting praised left right and centre. Jesus thought that people take precedence over rules. He taught by example.
When Jesus was executed his followers were confused because they had such a good time with him. Jesus didn’t say how the church was to be structured or laid out.

Views of Marriage in the Catholic Church:
God is the author of marriage. Therefore it can never be broken if they are both alive.
They must stay together until death and commit to having children (within reason).
Must both be baptised. It is one of seven sacraments.
It is a public sign that they are committed to each other and a statement about God’s values.
The two people getting married MARRY EACH OTHER, the priest is not the one who marries them.
Same sex unions are not condoned. (It is seen as ok for a homosexual to be a catholic as long as they are celibate)
It is preferable that two catholics marry but it’s ok for mixed marriages.

Environmental Ethics of Christianity
Dr Calvin B. DeWitt
Protestant. Believes man is in God’s image so is separated from nature. Man is fallen therefore nature has fallen with it. Man is always above the envionment.
John Paul II
The environment is one with man and by affecting one of them you will affect the other. Genesis 1:31 says something important I think. You can use the environment but you must look after it.

Reject the view that animate and inanimate objects are at the disposal of man. Future generations have the right to healthy environment. Nature has the right to exist. Damaged nature should be restored.
Christian Environmental Ethic
God has made all of nature so it deserves our respect. Man is better than nature because he is in God’s image. But they have responsibility to the environment. Man is a rebel, at odds with nature always. He has a sinful heart so takes the easier route in destroying nature. Christians should be the protectors to an extent.
